Who invented the calendar?

2 mins. read
What do we do when we want to plan our day? or when we want to plan a meeting? or a trip or a wedding or just about anything? We just refer to our calendar. We find the day of the month and slot it in. Or maybe as the year changes, it doesn’t matter whether we change our resolutions or not, but one thing we change is our calendars. But have you ever wondered, who came up with the calendar? Who decided that July has 31 days and April has only 30 days. So today let's figure, out who invented the calendar!
Now, the origins of the calendar can also be traced back to ancient civilizations, such as the Egyptians and the Romans. The ancient Egyptians are believed to have been the first to adopt a mainly solar-based calendar, with a year consisting of 365 days divided into 12 months. This calendar was based on the cycles of the Nile River and the movements of the sun and was used primarily for agricultural and religious purposes.
The ancient Romans also developed their own calendar, which was first introduced by Romulus in 753 BC. The original Roman calendar was a lunar calendar that consisted of 10 months, with 304 days in total. The calendar was later modified by the addition of January and February and was eventually replaced by the Julian calendar in 45 BC, which was introduced by Julius Caesar and was based on the solar year. But the miscalculations of 11 minutes, made the calendar go out of sync with reality.
It's worth noting that there are many different calendars in use around the world today, each with their own system of timekeeping and unique features, such as the Islamic calendar, the Chinese calendar, and the Jewish calendar. Interesting, isn't it?
