Gardens by the Bay is a vast and colourful park located in the South of Singapore and spread over 250 acres of reclaimed land. One of the most popular places to visit in Singapore, Gardens by the Bay is an awe-inspiring must-see attraction that is focused on improving the natural flora and fauna of the lion city. The garden has won numerous awards and accolades for its unique concept and structures, and for its contribution to the prosperity of society. It is home to several unique features, including two air-conditioned conservatories, dining and events spaces, lakes, waterways, bridges as well as the showpiece supertrees, measuring a height of up to 50 meters and covered all in plants.

This magnificent structure was constructed as a part of the strategy of turning Singapore from a ‘Garden city’ to a ‘City in a garden’. Gardens by the Bay aims to enhance the quality of life by improving the greenery and flora in and around the cities. The garden is a widespread botanic retreat, depicting the gardens of the future, the next-gen super trees groves, high-tech space-domes and sculptures, as well as is home to almost 4,00,000 plants. The light and sound show conducted here is a well-known phenomenon worldwide which is a major attraction for tourists.  Showcasing the perfect amalgamation of technology and intense greenery, Gardens by the Bay is a manifestation of how all Singapore gardens, and others around the world, should look like.

The futuristic attraction of Gardens by the Bay in Singapore is divided into three waterfront gardens for the ease of exploration, namely Bay South, Bay Central and Bay East.

The Bay Central Garden acts as a link between Bay South and Bay East Gardens. It includes a 3 Km waterfront promenade that allows for scenic walks stretching from the city center to the east of Singapore along with 15 hectares (37 acres) of vast land.

Bay South is the largest of the three gardens at 54 hectares (130 acres) and this is where you’ll find award-winning cooled conservatories and iconic Supertrees. The Bay South Garden claims to showcase the best of tropical horticulture and garden artistry, drawing inspiration from an orchid, the country’s national flower. It also houses a total of 18 supertrees, twelve situated in the supertree grove and the remaining six placed in clusters of threes near the Arrival Square and Dragonfly Lake.

Bay East Garden too has a distinct wow factor and a vast waterfront green space for locals and visitors to enjoy at their leisure. It is 32 hectares (79 acres) in size has a 2-kilometre (1.2 mi) promenade frontage bordering the Marina Reservoir. A park was developed here in support of the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics, as a series of large tropical leaf-shaped gardens, each with its own specific landscaping design, character and theme.

Gardens by the Bay is also home to Kingfisher and Dragonfly Lakes, both part of the Gardens’ lake system and extensions of the Marina Reservoir.

Located next to Marina Reservoir, the gardens are home to many unique features that impress visitors of all ages and that are well worth repeat visits. Gardens by the Bay is located at 18 Marina Gardens Drive, Singapore 018953. There are a number of ways to reach Gardens by the Bay, through bus, MRT or shuttle.

Bus: Bus Number 400 has a stop at the Gardens by the Bay bus stop and can be accessed with ease.

Shuttle: The gardens also run a regular shuttle service, starting on the first Monday of every month. It runs at a ten-minute interval between the Bayfront Plaza and the Conservatories. Tickets can be purchased at the ticketing counter.

MRT: Gardens by the Bay has an MRT station in Bayfront, which lies on a circle line or downtown line and is specially built for the visitors of the Gardens.

Supertrees

Supertrees are uniquely designed structures that depict vertical gardens of heights ranging between 25 to 50 meters. They exhibit the vertical display of tropical flowering climbers, epiphytes and ferns. Apart from their visual attraction, supertrees serve a multitude of other functions such as planting, shading and working as environmental engines for the gardens. These supertrees light up in the evening during their very own light and sound show, using colourful sequential lighting and music, illuminating the darkness and providing an exciting visual excitement.

Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay is the largest glass greenhouse in the world, listed in the 2015 Guinness Book of World Records. This is the best place to observe flowers at Gardens by the Bay. It takes the average conservatory to another level with the inclusion of plants and flowers from around the world, a Mediterranean garden, olive grove, South African garden, South American garden, and much more to offer. It replicates a mild, dry climate and features plants found in the Mediterranean and other semi-arid tropical regions

Cloud Forest at Gardens by the Bay is another impressive conservatory at the popular Singapore gardens. It houses a 35-meter tall mountain covered in tropical vegetation as well as the world’s tallest indoor waterfall. The mist-filled Cloud Walk and Treetop Walk allow you to see everything from above. According to its theme, the conservatory maintains cool and moist weather conditions which are typically experienced in tropical mountain regions.

The OCBC Skyway is essentially a sky garden in Singapore located at Gardens by the Bay which offers extraordinary views and the experience of a lifetime to walk on the 22-meter-tall, 128-meter long and unbelievably beautiful super tree skywalks. The skywalks basically connect one super tree to another at the super tree grove, where visitors are surrounded by the exceptional beauty of the gardens and the vistas of Marina Bay.

Far East Organization Children’s Garden

The Far East Organization Children’s Garden is an outdoor playground and water park that is filled with exciting rides and features, including water tunnels and spray jets, to ensure everyone stays cool in Singapore’s notorious heat.

Dining and Shopping

For those of you who would like to have a bite while exploring, the gardens take care of that as well. Gardens by the Bay is home to a variety of restaurants and cafes that serve a range of cuisines. You will also come across three gift shops on the campus should you want to pick something for the memories. 

Gardens By The Bay - Timings

When sightseeing in Singapore, a visit to the breathtaking Gardens by the Bay is an activity you just cannot miss. The timing for the outdoor garden is 05:00 to 02:00 daily, for conservatories and OCBC Skyway: 09:00 - 21:00. For Far East Organisation Children's Garden, 09:00 - 21:00 on weekends and holidays, 10:00 - 19:00 from Tuesday to Friday, and closed on Mondays. 

Gardens By The Bay - Tickets

The ticket prices to Gardens by the Bay, Singapore are as follows:

Adults (age 13+): Standard Ticket INR 1400

Child (age 3 - 12): Standard Ticket INR 750

Senior (age 60 and above): Standard Ticket INR 1400

The ticket includes entrance to the two conservatories: Flower Dome and Cloud Forest (both to be completed on the same day).
