6 mins. read

Beijing is China's capital city, and Beijing tourist places conjure up pictures of towering skyscrapers, flashing neon lights, Chinese-style buildings peeking through concrete constructions, and throngs of people hurrying to their destinations. This city is a global industrial powerhouse where jobs are outsourced. However, this is not all that Beijing has to offer! With the Winter Olympics happening in Beijing in 2022, the Chinese intend to engage 300 million people in winter sports, accelerating the development of China's winter sports market and promoting tourism in the competition zones, so book your Beijing tour package and witness the beauty of this city.

The Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Events officially began on February 4, 2022, but the competition began two days before the Opening Ceremony with preliminary games in curling and ice hockey. The Games will be concluded on February 20, 2022, with a Closing Ceremony.

History of Olympic Rings

The Olympic flag's interlocking rings were designed by Baron Pierre de Coubertin, co-founder of the current Olympic games. Africa, Asia, America, Europe, and Oceania were symbolised by the five rings at the time. While the colours of the five rings, blue, yellow, black, green, and red, along with the white background of the flag, could have been the colours of every nation's flag when it was first used as the official Olympic symbol in 1915, this is what the creator, Baron Pierre de Coubertin, had to say about his Olympic symbol in 1931.

Meaning of the Five Rings

Olympics

The Olympic sign is made up of five interlaced rings of equivalent size (the Olympic rings), which can be used alone, in one or all five distinct colours. These colours will be used in their five-colour form, from left to right: blue, yellow, black, green, and red. According to the visual rendition, the rings are interlaced from left to right, with the blue, black, and red rings at the top and the yellow and green rings at the bottom. The Olympic symbol represents the Olympic Movement's activities and signifies the uniting of the five continents as well as the meeting of athletes from all over the globe during the Olympic Games.

The Closing Ceremony

Beiijing Olympics

Zhang Yimou, the Oscar-nominated filmmaker who oversaw the Beijing 2008 events as well as the 2022 Opening Ceremony, will direct the Closing Ceremony. The specifics of the artistic acts are yet to be revealed, but the staging is intended to represent the "simple, safe, and spectacular" aspect of this year's Games, similar to those witnessed during the Opening Ceremony. The event traditionally involves a march of flags representing all participating nations, beginning with Greece, the founder country, and concluding with the host nation.

The distribution of medals from the last event of the games, as well as a procession of participants, are some of the highlights of the Closing Ceremony of the Beijing 2022 winter Olympics. The flag of the host nation is traditionally hoisted alongside the flag of the next country to host the Games. The Olympic Winter Games will be held in Italy in 2026, and the mayors of the host towns, this time Milan and Cortina-D'Ampezzo, will be presented with the Olympic flag during the event.

Why Do the Olympics Happen Every 4 Years?

The Olympics are staged every four years to honour the ancient beginnings of the Olympic Games, which were held every four years at Olympia. The four-year gap between Ancient Games editions was known as an "Olympiad," and it was employed for dating reasons at the time; time was measured in Olympiads rather than years. In 1894, Pierre de Coubertin announced his proposal to resurrect the Olympic Games, and the first modern-era Games were held in Athens in 1896. Currently, an Olympiad begins on January 1st of the first year and finishes on December 31st of the fourth year.

The Olympic Games are the world's first truly global, multi-sport, celebratory athletics event. The Olympics, which include over 200 countries competing in over 400 events over the summer and winter games, are where the globe comes together to compete, be inspired, and be united. Apart from the fact that the 2022 Winter Olympics will be held in China, there are other spots to visit that are closely kept oriental secrets. Book your China tour package today and fall in love with a historic, sophisticated, and exotic nation.
