You may even plan your trip in the monsoon season, from July to September. During these months, the landscape becomes more lush and green due to the rains. Junagarh Fort: Unlike most other forts of Rajasthan that are perched on hilltops, Junagarh Fort in Bikaner stands boldly in the plains. Taking a stroll through the fort's grand halls would feel like stepping back in time to an age of majestic kings and fearless warriors. Here you would find Anup Mahal, Phool Mahal, and Chandra Mahal, each of them featuring exquisite artistry that reflects the opulence of a bygone era.

Patwon ki Haveli: Located in Jaisalmer, it is a major highlight of Rajasthan holiday tourism. It comprises of a set of five houses that were built by five Jain merchant brothers in the 19th century. The exterior of Patwon ki Haveli is covered with intricate carvings. The walls of the Haveli are decorated with paintings and mirror-work. Here you can also find a shop selling embroidered textiles and brocades.

Ummaid Bhavan Palace Museum: This is an almost 75 years old architectural marvel. Once a royal residence, this magnificent structure now houses a museum showcasing an impressive collection of artistic murals, intricate miniature paintings, vintage clocks, and unique household artefacts. It provides a glimpse into the opulent lifestyle of the past, and is an interesting sightseeing spot.

Mehrangarh Fort: This grand fort is built from red sandstone. Key attractions within the fort include the Moti Mahal, which is its largest room and has a stunning ceiling adorned with gold leaves, sea shells, and mirrors. Sheesh Mahal, on the other hand, is known for its decorative mirrorwork and vibrant paintings.

How To Reach Rajasthan

Rajasthan is quite well connected with the rest of India by air, rail, and road.

By Flight: It is easy to reach Rajasthan by air. The main airport of the state is the Jaipur International Airport. Besides that, you also fly down to Jaisalmer Airport, Nal Airport (Bikaner Airport), Udaipur Airport (Maharana Pratap Airport), Jodhpur Airport (Civil Airport), Kota Airport or Suratgarh Air Force Station, depending on your convenience.

By Train: Rajasthan is also well-connected by rail to other parts of the country. The major stations in Rajasthan can be found in Jodhpur, Jaipur, Udaipur, and Ajmer. The busiest railway station of Rajasthan is in Jaipur.

By Road: Many national highways pass through Rajasthan. The most well-connected one is NH8. It connects the state to many major cities like Delhi, Udaipur, Jaipur, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, and Mumbai.
