Best Time to Visit Pune

Winters and monsoons would be the best time for Pune tourism. Hence, you should consider planning your trip between the months of July to February. The weather here is fairly pleasant during these months, and hence perfect for sightseeing. Pune especially comes alive in December, when the widely famed Sawai Gandharva Sangeeth Mahotsav is hosted.

Pune has a tropical weather. The city lies in the leeward or rain shadow region of the Western Ghats. Therefore, it does not receive as much torrential rains in monsoon Mumbai. Here, you can comfortably enjoy outdoor activities in the city in both monsoons and winters. Winters especially here are quite breezy and calm, with misty mornings and nippy nights and clear skies.

Experience The Best Of Pune

When visiting Pune for tourism, you must include the following places in your itinerary:

Shivneri Fort:  Any Pune tourism package would include a visit to Shivneri Fort, which is the birthplace of the founder of the Maratha Empire, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The fort was built in the 16th century, and features massive gates, doorways and windows that are enclosed inside a triangle-shaped fortification. The whole structure extends over a mile on the top of the Shivneri hill in Junnar. You will find a mosque, a prayer hall, the Badami Talav and water springs at the Shivneri Fort. Near the pond, there are statues of Shivaji Maharaj and his mother, Jijabai.

Shaniwar Wada: Shaniwar Wada presents an excellent example of Maratha Imperial architecture. It was originally built as a magnificent seven-story palace but now exists in remnants, with only its foundation enduring the test of time. At Shaniwar Wada, you can find landscaped garden influenced by Mughal architectural styles, which adds a touch of elegance to its historic charm. At the centre of the garden, you can find a stunning fountain, which is intricately designed to resemble a 16-petaled lotus.

Parvati Hill: Tourism in Pune would be incomplete without a trip to Parvati Hill. Apart from providing a stunning scenic view, this city is also immersed in history that goes back 250 years. Located at a height of 2100 feet above sea level, this hill boasts of a plethora of temples, some of which are considered to be the oldest heritage structures in Pune. These temples also tend to serve as a reminder of the Peshwa rule in the region. In addition to temples, you can also find a museum at the Parvati hill that displays several items belonging to the Peshwa rulers. These items include swords, guns and coins.
