Explore The Best Of Kashmir

The list of places to visit for Kashmir tourism is quite long. Some of these places are:

Dal Lake:

Often considered to be the pride of Kashmir tourism, the Dal Lake is among the most popular attractions of the region. Here you can find a vast sheet of dazzling water reflecting the misty peaks of the Pir Panjal mountains and the timber balconies of the houseboats. The sight of gondola-styled Shikaras swiftly cutting through these waters is quite likely to leave you mesmerized. Atour of Kashmir will not be complete without going on a shikara ride at the Dal Lake. It will take you across the gorgeous Dal Jheel, enabling you to soak in the views of mist-covered Pir Panjal ranges as the city of Srinagar drifts afar.

Shalimar Bagh:

This beautiful park overlooks the Dal Lake and is a major highlight of Srinagar tourism in Kashmir. The layout of the park is much like the typical design of Persian gardens. You can enter the gardens from the lower terrace, and enjoy the serene setting of manicured lawns and lines of sycamore trees. You may climb to the private terrace of the garden which is surrounded by stunning fountains and engraved stones.  Throughout the gardens, you will find chini khanas or arched niches behind several water features. Traditionally, they were filled with candles but today these arches have flower displays that reflect off the water's surface.

Nishat Bagh:

This is another popular park that tends to be a part of most J&K tourism packages, and also provides stunning views of Dal Lake. Nishat Bagh is larger than Shalimar Bagh, and also provides great views of the Zabarwan Range. The garden is spread over an expanse of over 46 acres and features an enthralling array of chinar trees, flowering plants and cascading fountains. Its twelve terraces are the most striking features of Nishat Bagh. Each of these terraces represents a sign of the zodiac and is adorned with fountains and sculptures.

Gulmarg Gondola:

This is one of the highest-operating cable cars in the world, and a key highlight of Kashmir tourism in India. Gulmarg Gondola ferries tourists from Gulmarg to the top of nearby Apharwat Peak. It allows you to soar over the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas, and enjoy breathtaking views of the valleys and meadows. Going on a Gulmarg Gondola ride would be among the best ways to enjoy beautiful panoramic views of the valley from a height. Based on the time of your visit, you may get to witness snow-covered mountains and slopes, tall green pine trees, rocky terrains, vast green fields and more.

Martand Sun Temple:

When it comes to Kashmir tourism in India, the ruins of Martand Sun Temple is a place that cannot be missed. This temple was dedicated to Lord Surya and is believed to be built during 725-756 CE. The temple lies on the top of the plateau from where you can enjoy amazing views of the Kashmir valley. The Martand Sun Temple exhibits architectural styles of several cultures, including Gupta Gandharan, Roman, Greek, Chinese, and Syrian. The temple features beautiful engravings of Hindu Gods.
