Tourism in Ayodhya will give you an immersive experience of the spiritual and religious traditions of Hinduism. Here are some major places you should include in your Ayodhya tour packages:
Ram Janmabhoomi
This newly constructed massive temple complex is believed to be the birthplace of Lord Rama, a central figure in Hinduism. This is one of Ayodhya's most worshipped and religious temples, as it presides over Ram Lalla, or the infant form of Rama. The temple, built in the Nagra style of temple architecture, is the world's third-largest Hindu temple. Following the pran pratistha ceremony on January 22, 2024, devotees were welcomed, and UP tourism in Ayodhya saw a significant spike.
Hanuman Garhi
Hanuman Garhi is a 10th-century temple dedicated to the Hindu God Hanuman. It is situated on a hilltop in Sai Nagar, and it is customary to visit Hanuman Garhi before visiting the Ram temple. The temple's significance is believed to be that Lord Hanuman lived on the temple site, guarding Ayodhya. The temple hones a 76-staircase pathway to the entrance and houses a 6-inch tall idol of Hanuman. The temple has an interior cave adorned with many statues of Lord Hanuman and his mother, Maa Anjani
Ramkot Fort
One of Ayodhya's main sights is a high point dotted with temples and shrines. The location marks the site of Lord Ram's fort, which once existed. The fort is frequented by many devotees throughout the year. During Ram Navami, the fort is decorated, and the festival is held with a tremendous amount of excitement in the months of March and April.
Kanak Bhawan
Constructed in 1891, Kanak Bhawan is also known as Sone-ka-Ghar. Located in Tulsi Nagar, this holy site honours the Hindu deities, Lord Rama and Goddess Sita. The site features three golden-crowned idols of the two gods under a silver roof located in Garbagriha. Kaikei is believed to have gifted this building to Devi Sita following her marriage to Lord Rama. The shrine is a marvellous example of Bundelkhand architecture style, and the central hall has arched doorways on three sides. Make sure to include this place in your Ayodhya tourism package when visiting.
Gulab Bari
Gulab Bari, built by Nawab Shuja-ud-Daula, also known as Garden of Roses, is situated in Vaidehi Nagar. The Gulab Bari's 18th-century structure showcases pure Nawab-style architecture with a vast array of rose species, fountains, and lush greenery. The place also has the tomb of the third Nawab of Faizabad, Nawab Shuja-ud-Daula, and his parents. The Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act lists Gulab Bari and preserves it as a part of our national heritage. This Nawabi-style architecture shows that Ayodhya India tourism also has Nawabi culture embedded in its historical sites.
Sita Ki Rasoi
Sita Ki Rasoi, located on the north-western side of Ram Janambhoomi, is believed to be an ancient kitchen that goddess Sita used. This sacred site now houses some exhibit vessels and the kitchen revered in Sita’s name, this Sita ki Rasoi is a basement kitchen. Worshipped as the Goddess of Food, Sita is also known as Goddess Annapurna; thus, the temple offers free food to visitors. When you visit Sita ki Rasoi you will get to see and experience this unique aspect of tourism in Ayodhya.
Bahu Begum Ka Maqbara
Bahu Begum ka Maqbara, also known as "The Taj Mahal of the East," is situated on the Maqbara Road in Faizabad. This mausoleum, built in 1816, is dedicated to Queen Bride Begum Unmatuzzohra Bano, wife of Nawab Shuja-ud-Daula. The monument is famous for its non-Mughal architecture. The maqbara boasts three intricately designed domes with exquisitely crafted walls and ceilings. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) now protects the premises.
